Website: MediaMax

MediaMax was founded in 2007 and was formerly known as Streamload. The main focus for MediaMax seems to be offering a large amount of storage on both their free and paid subscriptions. In May 2008 MediaMax was closed and all user accouts was moved to The Linkup

Features
Their free plan offers 25 GB of storage with a download/share limit of 1 GB per month. You can also only upload files that are less than 10 MB in space. Both things can be upgraded by subscribing to a paid plan. Besides the free plan MediaMax offers 3 additional subscriptions that are all paid and ranging from 100 to 1000 GB of storage which should be more than enough for most. The share limit ranges from 10 to 100 GB per month and the file size limit isn’t an issue with these plans either.

MediaMax currently has a software client in beta that allows you to upload several files at a time and at the same time keep a status on the uploads. You can also view your folders and files in a similar way as with the browser version.

Besides free storage you also get access to webmail that is actually just a webmail client for the e-mail you used to sign up with. The mail interface allows you to attach your uploaded files, send links to them etc.

A cool little feature is that you can stream the files directly from MediaMax when you login so you don’t have to download the files and then store them somewhere on your computer.

MediaMax is also testing out FTP support but there are certain limitations but still promising news for MediaMax users.

Interface
The browser interface is fairly easy to use but a bit slow to navigate especially if you have several folder levels. The software client is rather confusing and in general it isn’t very logic the way it is built up. Besides that it is also very slow and it is hard to keep track of what you have actually uploaded.

Speed
During testing the speed seemed to be much better through the browser but in general very slow.

Support
The support haven’t been very fast but when they finally answered it was friendly and helpful.

Good things:
• Amount of storage
• Price on upgrades

Bad things:
• File size limit on free plan
• Poorly done software client
• Long delay of uploaded data
• Speed
